Sound Inspiration for our Horror

There are many non-diegetic and diegetic sounds we can use in our piece.

In terms of non-diegetic, the use of screechy violins would be ideal, or other kinds of orchestral sounds. The use of violins create a eerie atmosphere and with a crescendo will bring a scene to a climax or make the audience unknown for what will happen.

We had ideas like this:


Although, this may not represent the genre of psychological very well, but it may work with our piece when the ghosts attack our character.

We also think incorporating a piano would be very good for our piece as pianos on there own can be quite scary.
We thought of using a piano in the style of this:

In this piece from one of our chosen inspirations, we can see that he piano starts to distort and disfigure as strings come into play at the end along with howling of winds, and people screaming. This is the exact effect we would want in our opening credits, but could also be used in our main piece.

We also thought we could have certain themes from the ghost, so something like this could be used for it:
As our ghost is a child it would be highly appropriate and very sinister/scary.


For diegetic sounds, we think we could use a heartbeat sound (quietly in the background) in order to create tension in the audience. This would be heard when ever something bad is about to happen. A heartbeat like this could be used:


Also, we think we need other effects like wind howling in the background to create a sinister and eerie atmosphere. Also, it would make the overall film more realistic having real sounds in it. A wind effect like this could be used:


Furthermore, foley sounds will need to be added such as footsteps when running, unless the audio from the camera is usable.

Also, voiceovers need to be used if the audio isn't clear when we film. We could also use them anyway for heavy breathing and such, in order to create fear in our character. We also need to consider room reverbs when doing voiceovers to make them sound as realistic as possible.
