Raja & Laurens Video!

Today, we had to recreate some scenes from a storyboard, which college provided for us. We had to establish every camera shot correctly (for example close ups, mid shots etc) and make sure it is framed properly.

Me and Lauren each had a go at acting and then filmed, so we came out with two videos, but this one turned out to be the better one. In the above video we had to make sure our shots were framed correctly, by looking at the instructions on the storyboard and making sure our close ups were close ups and mid shots were mid shots because it establishes a shot overall, so when editing, it looks better by having different types of camera angles and framings cutting into eachother. We also had to make sure the white balance and focus was correct, otherwise things wouldn't look right and ruin the overall atmosphere of the piece.

When we filmed this, we accidentally missed out a scene of a close up of looking at the phone to see the time. Thankfully, it wasn't a major problem as we had another establishing shot to see what Lauren was doing (looking at the time). On the other hand, an audience might have fully understood what Lauren was doing if that shot was in there. The lesson learnt from this is that we should double check every shot we have done and make sure we haven't missed anything out.

I believe that our piece does have a pace, as the general idea was someone being late to there lesson, so we had to make sure everything wasn't at the same pace, so we sped things up after looking at the time, as that person would be in a rush to get to their lesson.

There were a few improvements we could have done, for example adding that scene of the watch and double checking all the shots next time. Apart from that, I think it looks really well done and flows nicely and has a good pace.

I believe our piece does make sense and the key thing I wanted to do is make sure each shot flows into the next and doesn't jump around, otherwise the audience would be confused as to what is happening. I think contunnity makes the overall piece more watchable and creates a smooth pace.

Overall, I am pleased how it turned out. If we had a bit more time, it would have been good to add some effects to it and possibly colour correction.

First Attempt

When editing our mini project, we tried to make sure that each clip fluently ran into the next one. Being our first attempt, we encountered difficulties such as finding the right timing of when to cut and record. When getting feedback, we discovered that our film was a bit jumpy, but had good framing. Overall, it turned out better than first expected.
